Juliana Stage Run

Juliana Stage Run (JSR) – 254 km (7.370 m ↑ / 8.108 m ↓), competitive, in stages along Juliana Trail and Alpe Adria Trail.

The route follows JULIANA TRAIL from Kranjska Gora to Bovec, where it turns to ALPE ADRIA TRAIL. The route will not be specially marked since the markings have already been taken care of; however, each participant will have a GPX track. The beginning and end of each stage is in an urban environment – Kranjska Gora, Šobec / Bled, Bohinjska Bistrica, Tolmin, Bovec, Kranjska Gora.

After a joint start at the accommodation center (also possible chronometer start with a few minutes delay) the participants make their own progress (walking and / or running) along the route. The participants are self-sufficient and environmentally conscious so that no trace will be left behind. The Booking Center Slovenia (of Juliana Trail and Alpe Adria Trail Slovenia) will provide accommodation for participants and accompanying teams in existing accommodation of the completed daily route. Each participant will have a GPS tracker so that security will be provided. As you progress, you will be able to replenish supplies (1 – 3 refreshments per stage), and equipment transfer will be provided. Arrival at the destination is individual or in a small group of 2 – 3, according to their progression skills. 

The event is in a boutique style, with 50 participants per stage. Priority will be given to participants who will attend all stages or will participate in several stages.

 

Competition rules:

  • each participant competes on his own risk – by paying the entry fee and signing the application form, the participant confirms that he or she agrees to the terms of the tender,
  • application forms and picking up the starter pack will be possible the day before the event (15.00 – 20.00), exceptionally on the day of the event (4.00 – 5.00),
  • participants / competitors must be well physically fit,
  • the organizer is not responsible for the consequences that the competitor causes to himself, the teammate or a third person,
  • JSR stages will not be marked separately. The participant will be assisted by the existing, permanent JT and AAT signposts of the hiking trails and the trail he has loaded on his navigation device,
  • all competitors must adhere to the designated and “marked” paths. Any search and use of shortcuts and off-trail running / hiking are punishable by immediate EXCLUSION,
  • the organizer is not responsible for damage caused to the competitor’s running equipment,
  • all participants must have the required obligatory equipment (see “obligatory equipment”),
  • at each stage the participant provides half self-catering – at the refreshment points the organizer mainly provides drinks and snacks (at the end of each stage is provided a warm meal),
  • the event takes place in a natural environment where the participant respects nature (leaking waste on the route is punishable by EXCLUSION!), considers the weather conditions,
  • the specifics of the route and takes care of its own safety,
  • because each participant receives a trash bag (a piece of obligatory equipment) and because he cares about nature, he leaves a trash bag only at the refreshment points or at the finish area,
  • the participant competes independently without a support. Assistance from the support team (transport / escort / addition or removal of  quipment, provision of food and drinks) to the participant is allowed ONLY at the refreshment points. Assistance outside the area of ​​refreshment points is strictly forbidden and the participant will be EXCLUDED !,
  • use of forbidden substances is NOT ALLOWED! – the participant will be EXCLUDED,
  • the participant must be at least 18 years old,
  • the event takes place in all weather conditions, unless the safety of participants will be in danger (in such cases, the organizer will provide a safer / shorter route, or even cancel the stage / event,
  • if the participant decides to cancel the race, he communicates to the organizer – he wil organize his transportation to the current stage destination,
  • incomplete obligatory equipment is penalized for 1 piece = 1 hour. If the participant does not show the equipment, he will be EXCLUDED!,
  • the participant is obligated to provide assistance to a teammate in difficulty. Otherwise, the first one is EXCLUDED !,
  • the participant must reach the destination within the prescribed time. If he does not succeed, he gets DNF status,
  • any complaint must be written (the participant receives the form from the organizer), not later than 30 minutes after arrival at the finish. The decision of the organizer is final – later complaints will not be considered.

 

Taking photos and video recording

Competitors agree that organizar can use photo and video footage taken at the event for promotional purposes.

Non-participation at the event

Participants who will not be able to attend the event due to health problems but have already paid the entry fee; will be able to request a refund on e-mail julianastagerun@gmail.com on the basis of medical evidence:

  • 90% of the payment (if the request for repayment is received until 04/17/2020),
  • no payment can be made after 04/17/2020, for whatever reasons.

In case the registered competitor (04/25/2020 – 04/30/2020) will not attend the event (regardless of the reason for absence), he can authorize someone to pick up the starter pack. Organizer will not be sending starter packs by mail.

 

Emergency cancellation

In case of event cancellation due to emergency (natural disasters in the area of ​​the event, epidemic, etc.), the organizer shall return:

  • 70% of the payment (emergency situation before 04/17/2020),
  • no refund (emergency situation after 04/17/2020).

Obligatory equipment:

  • suitable running shoes,
  • a start number affixed on a front of a body, T-shirt or belt,
  • pot for drinking (at least 0,15 liters),
  • reserve food and drink (1 liter) for the time between refreshments,
  • GPS tracker,
  • GSM (reachable for participation time + extra battery),
  • handheld GPS with extra batteries (an option is smartphone with suitable app) and loaded trace for stage(s),
  • headlamp,
  • astro foil (at least 1,40 x 2,0 m),
  • a whistle,
  • a jacket made of waterproof material with hood,
  • first aid package (at least 2 gauzes, 1 elastic bandage and a package of patches),
  • long pants or spiders that cover the skin,
  • an extra layer that covers the entire hands (also “gloves”),
  • hat and gloves,
  • extra clothing in case of bad weather,
  • a trash bag.

* Obligatory equipment is required for each stage.
** Running poles are allowed. The participant uses them from start to finish of each stage and does not delay them at refreshment stations!
